Using Chandra Localizations and Gaia Distances and Proper Motions to Classify Hard X-Ray Sources Discovered by INTEGRAL

چکیده
Here we report on X-ray observations of ten 17-60 keV sources discovered by the INTEGRAL satellite. The primary new information is sub-arcsecond positions obtained Chandra Observatory. In six cases (IGR J17040-4305, IGR J18017-3542, J18112-2641, J18434-0508, J19504+3318, and J20084+3221), a unique counterpart identified with high degree certainty, for five these (all but J19504), Gaia distances or proper motions indicate that they are Galactic sources. For four these, most likely classifications magnetic Cataclysmic Variables (CVs). J20084 could be either CV High Mass Binary. We classify sixth source (J19504) as Active Nucleus (AGN). addition, find counterparts to J18010-3045 J19577+3339, latter bright radio probable AGN. other two sources, J12529-6351 J18013-3222 do not have counterparts, indicating transient, highly variable, absorbed.

Identification of 8 INTEGRAL hard X - ray sources with Chandra
We report the results of identification of 8 hard X-ray sources discovered by the INTEGRAL observatory during the ongoing all-sky survey. These sources have been observed by Chandra. In 6 cases a bright X-ray source was found within the INTEGRAL localization region, which enabled us to unambigously identify 5 of the objects with nearby galaxies, implying that they have an active galactic nucleu...

متن کاملChandra Observations and Optical Identification of Hard X-ray Sources Discovered with ASCA
We present the first results of the Chandra and optical follow-up observations of hard X-ray sources detected in the ASCA Medium Sensitivity Survey (AMSS). Optical identifications are made for five objects. Three of them show either weak or absent optical narrow emission lines and are at low redshift ∼ 0.06. One of them is a broad line object at z = 0.910 and one is a z = 0.460 object with ...
متن کاملInfrared observations of serendipitous hard Chandra X - ray sources
We present observations of a sample of optically-faint, hard X-ray sources of the kind likely to be responsible for much of the hard X-ray background. We confirm that such sources are easily detected in the near-infrared, and find that they have a featureless continuum suggesting that the active nucleus is heavily obscured. The infrared colours of the majority of the targets observed are consis...
متن کاملHot dust in two hard Chandra X - ray sources
The two brightest hard X-ray sources discovered serendipitously by Chandra in the field of the lensing cluster A2390 are found to have ISOCAM counterparts at 6.7 and 15 µm. We use this fact, together with their non-detection by SCUBA at 850 µm, as the basis for DUSTY radiative transfer modelling of their infrared spectral energy distributions. For the best-fitting models, we find that the dust ...
